Bed Bug Treatments – Ehrlich Pest Control

Are you concerned you may have bed bugs? You can rely on Ehrlich for bed bug treatment services that eradicate bed bugs quickly.

Our treatments range from conventional solutions to K-9 bed bug inspections to state-of-the-art heat treatments. Your technician will recommend different treatment services depending on the specifics of the infestation.

We recommend that you hire a professional pest control company at the earliest sign of bed bugs. Bed bugs spread fast - each mature female bed bug can lay as many as 500 eggs in their short lifetime.

Give us a call at 1-800-837-5520 to schedule a FREE bed bug inspection.

Your Ehrlich technician will be able to review and recommend multiple solutions that are available to bring your bed bug problem under control.

We take a sensitive and sympathetic approach recognizing how emotional and stressful a bed bug infestation may be.

Our use of trained bed bug dogs, will help to accurately detect and locate the presence of bed bugs. This will enable us to provide targeted solutions to identified bed bug hotspots.

This environmentally-friendly process has now been adopted in the industry for bed bug control. Heat treatment is widely regarded as one of the most effective solutions for bed bugs.

Portable heaters, either electric or propane-fired, are used to gradually heat the ambient air within rooms to above 120 F while monitoring with strategically placed temperature sensors and infrared thermometers.

This high temperature is then held for 1 to 3 hours or more depending on the level of infestation, and relative level of clutter in the treated rooms.

Heat treatment is a low risk option for customers (and their pets), and the environment due to the minimal use of pesticides.

The service can be completed in just one day rather than over the course of a few weeks, and its effective against all life stages of a bed bug.

Contact your local Ehrlich office at 1-800-837-5520 to find out more, as heat treatment is not offered in every service area.

Conventional treatments consisting of insecticides remains our primary and most turned to approach for handling bed bugs.

Several insecticide formulations, including liquids, dusts and aerosols, are typically required for a thorough bed bug service due in part to the varying types of surfaces, materials and situations encountered.

Dusts are an excellent tool to use when treating for bed bugs. These formulations tend to last longer than their liquid counterparts and can be easily applied into voids where liquids may not reach or should not be applied.

Aerosols are also convenient tools, especially when fitted with a crack and crevice tip, allowing direct application into cracks and crevices where bed bugs like to hide.

Vacuuming will be able to remove large portions of a bed bug population from areas where they are visible

Treatment will usually begin at the focal point of the infestation, which is generally the bed in an infested room.

This will be followed by careful treatment of all items in the vicinity, including baseboards, floor/wall junctions, tack strips under carpets, behind electrical outlets and switches, cracks in walls and floors, items hanging on walls and relevant structural voids.

High temperatures are lethal to most insects provided they cannot quickly escape to a cooler location. The temperatures produced by portable steam units are more than sufficient to kill bed bugs and their eggs upon contact.

Steaming allows us to treat all surfaces of mattresses, box springs and upholstered furniture, which are often restricted with insecticides.

Steaming tends to get bed bugs to move out of deeper recesses as the temperature begins to rise, making them more likely to expose themselves or cross any applied insecticide.

Using steam treatment, means there is less need for applying pesticides.

Steam may NOT be appropriate for treating all surfaces due to the moisture that is produced.

While not our first choice, bed bug fumigation is also an option in a few select situations.

Fumigation uses materials in a gaseous state, which can penetrate all items placed within a fumigation space and is able to kill all stages of bed bugs present during the exposure period.

Freezing is also an option for eliminating bed bugs from some items which can not be treated conventionally

As a homeowner, you can action this solution by using your home freezer.

Enclose infested items in plastic bags and freeze them for about a week.

A chest type freezer will allow you to freeze larger items too.

While freezing is reported to be effective against nymphs and adults, eggs appear to be more tolerant of cold temperatures and must be exposed for at least 30 days before they become non-viable.

At Ehrlich, we ensure that there is a follow-up with every customer.

Our current standard practice is for at least 2 follow-up visits after the initial corrective service, to include inspection and treatment as needed.

We provide this service to ensure that we have effectively resolved your bed bug problem.

1. Eastern will arrive in an unmarked vehicle to thoroughly inspect your home. The inspection is conducted by a Eastern bed bug technician AND a bed bug dog.

2. The bed bug dog will pinpoint the exact spots in your home that need treatment. This allows us to treat only where necessary rather than the entire house or building. This will make the procedure less invasive and reduce your cost considerably.

3. Heaters and temperature monitors are set up throughout the infested areas and will kill all the bed bugs within hours without the use of chemicals. Our customers are happy to eliminate the use of chemicals and are also happy that they don't need to replace carpets, clothes, toys, bedding and so on.

Watch the above video to see what to expect from a typical heat treatment from Eastern Pest.

Eastern provides a full 60-day guarantee on our heat treatment. If bed bugs are not completely eliminated we will come back and re-treat at absolutely no cost to you.

Why Heat Treatment?

There is considerable research that shows bed bugs thermal death point is around 120 degrees Fahrenheit and bed bugs at all stages of life will be dead in less than one minute at this temperature.

Treating with heat allows you to kill all the Bed Bugs within the treatment area at once. As opposed to conventional treatments which require multiple visits.

Another advantage of heat treatment is that all Bed Bugs are killed without the use of chemicals.

We begin by raising the temperature in the treatment zone to 120F over approximately an 8 hour period. During this time our crew will monitor the temperature. Fans are used to circulate the heat and make sure the temperature is evenly raised throughout the treatment area.

Re-entry is permitted as soon as the area returns to normal temperature.

*Similar price when preparation cost is included

1. Bring Heat. Specialized high output electric heaters are placed and continually adjusted throughout the space, introducing and re circulating heated air with a temperature target of 120 F not to exceed 135 F.

2. Monitor. Temperatures are monitored in real time from a remote location using wireless sensors and also by hand with infrared handheld devices to ensure lethal temperatures safely reach all bedbugs in structure.

3. Move Air: Specialized high output fans move heated air throughout the space to ensure heat is evenly distributed and able to reach all spaces within treatment area.

The first step in a successful bed bug elimination program is a thorough inspection of the area. Because of how quickly bed bugs reproduce you'll want to have the inspection done immediately. Do not wait. We can send a trained professional to your house right away. Call now.

Signs Of An Infestation:

Common first signs of an infestation are bites that even most doctors will not be able to immediately identify. These bites will leave rashes of different sizes and be itchy. If you feel you get bites after waking up in the morning, it could be a bed bug bite

Bed bugs can be found often by looking for black stains or smears on beds, which are the bugs droppings. Sometimes an engorged bug is accidentally killed or disgorged by accidental crushing, resulting in a visible blood stain.

They hide in cracks and crevices of a room including furniture, moldings, outlets, and carpeting. They generally stay as close to the host (you) as possible.

Bed bugs can go unnoticed for weeks making control more difficult.

Bed Bug Facts:

Bed bugs are small, reddish brownish, flattened insects that feed solely on the blood of animals. Fully grown they are approximately 1/4 of an inch in length, while hatchlings are about the size of a poppy seed. They have piercing mouthparts to draw blood for food and females lay about 200 eggs. The eggs hatch in about 1 to 2 weeks and in 4 to 8 weeks those Newborns will be ready to lay their own eggs.

Bed bugs can live anywhere!

Bed Bugs hide in cracks and crevices during day and normally you will find them in the folds and tufts of mattresses, inside the mattress box spring, in cracks and hollow posts of bed stands, bed rails and headboards. They may be found in inside furniture and the bottom and sides of drawers or even in upholstery of chairs and sofas. They will hide in and under carpet, in cracks of hardwood floors, outlets, wall voids, and luggage.

Sometimes they can be found behind seams in wallpaper, behind pictures on the walls, under door and window casings, and behind baseboards. They prefer to stay near their primary food (you) and arent restricted to these places If necessary, bed bugs will feed on other animals, such as birds, mice, dogs, and cats. They normally feed at night, but may feed in the daylight in rooms that are not used at night.

They are challenging pests to control because they hide in many tiny places, and you cant get rid of their food source so treatments must be very thorough.

Bed bugs can survive for many months without feeding, and therefore they may already be present in apparently vacant or clean apartment. These pests can also wander between adjoining apartments through voids in walls and holes though which wires and pipes pass.

We are committed to providing a quick, affordable, and most importantly, effective solution to your pest problem, and we take every measure to protect your and your family's safety throughout the process.

So whether you suspect you have a bedbug problem or just want to make sure you never get one, we have the expertise and training to get rid of your unwanted house guests, for good. Please call or email us today.
