Bed Bug Inspections and Bed Bug Inspection Dogs
Bed bugs are small and reclusive in nature. However, bed bugs are visible (apple seed sized). Regarding inspecting for bed bugs, you spend much more time in your home as an observer and you are much more likely to find a bed bug than a pest control professional performing a quick visual inspection. Many companies offer free inspections to employ scare sales tactics. We do not believe in this practice.
Please visit our inspection guidefor information on how to identify a bed bug infestation.
If you are not finding any evidence of bed bugs in your home, we recommend having a bed bug inspection K9 perform a scent inspection. If the bed bug infestation is small, you may not be able to identify any visual evidence. These highly trained dogs are able to detect the scent of even one bed bug or egg in a home.
Here is a list of our recommended bed bug inspection dogs and handlers:

Bill was an invaluable resource when we were freaking out about a bedbug infestation. We had recently returned from vacation and noticed a bug that looked like a bedbug in our room. I spoke with Bill with Heat pro and he suggested I bring a sample of what we found down to him and he would analyze it. He informed us that it was certainly a bat bug and in fact nothing to be concerned about. Not only did he save us a ton of stress and headache. He also could've made a quick sale and instead he was an honest and responsible business person. I will always keep his number and recommended him to anybody that may need his services in future.

I cannot recommend Heat Pro enough! Bill is very professional and responds right away. His employee came out the very next day, and they both saw the job through until the end. Bill went above and beyond to make an awful situation much easier to deal with. I hope I never need his services again, but should the need arise I will definitely use him again.

These guys are great. Unlike so many companies today, they care about your needs and will do everything they can to make sure the job is done right. The owner, Bill, far exceeded my expectations on a customer service level on several different occasions throughout the process. Thanks to Heat Pro, we have been bug free for three weeks now. And, with the four month guarantee, I have the peace of mind knowing that even if one or two pesky little critters managed to survive, Heat Pro will be back to see the job through. I would highly recommend Heat Pro over any other exterminator in the Denver area.

Bed Bugs – PEST CONTROL CANADA
Bedbugs were once a common public health pest worldwide, which declined in incidence through the mid 20th century. Recently however, bed bugs have undergone a dramatic resurgence and worldwide there are reports of increasing numbers of infestations. Bed bugs are one of the great travelers of the world and are readily transported via luggage, clothing, bedding and furniture. As such, they have a worldwide distribution.
Some Basic Facts:
Video:Everything you need to know about bed bugs
Bed Bug Bites
Symptoms of a Bed Bug InfestationMost bug bug problems are not detected until someone has been bitten. The bite is painless. The salivary fluid injected by bed bugs typically causes the skin to become irritated and inflamed, although individuals can differ in their sensitivity. A small, hard, swollen, white welt may develop at the site of each bite. This is accompanied by severe itching that lasts for several hours to days.A bed bug infestation can be recognized by blood stains from crushed bugs or by rusty (sometimes dark) spots of excrement on sheets and mattresses, bed clothes, and walls. Fecal spots, eggshells, and shed skins may be found in the vicinity of their hiding places. An offensive, sweet, musty odor from their scent glands may be detected when bed bug infestations are severe.
Hiding PlacesBed bugs can live in almost any crevice or protected location. They will usually stay close to their food source (blood) but can rapidly spread through a multiple residence building, hotel or other accommodations. The most common place to find them is the bed. Bed bugs often hide within seams, tufts, and crevices of the mattress, box spring, bed frame and headboard.
Finding Bed BugsSome Bed bug symptoms are not obvious to the untrained eye. A thorough inspection requires dismantling the bed and standing the components on edge. Things to look for are the bugs themselves, and the light-brown, molted skins of the nymphs. Dark spots of dried bed bug excrement are often present along mattress seams or wherever the bugs have resided. Oftentimes the gauze fabric underlying the box spring must be removed to gain access for inspection and possible treatment. Successful treatment of mattresses and box springs is difficult, however, and infested components may need to be discarded. Cracks and crevices of bed frames should be examined, especially if the frame is wood. (Bed bugs have an affinity for wood and fabric more so than metal or plastic). Headboards secured to walls should also be removed and inspected. In hotels and motels, the area behind the headboard is often the first place that the bugs become established. Bed bugs also hide among items stored under beds.
Nightstands and dressers should be emptied and examined inside and out, then tipped over to inspect the woodwork underneath. Oftentimes the bugs will be hiding in cracks, corners, and recesses.Upholstered chairs and sofas should be checked, especially seams, tufts, skirts, and crevices beneath cushions. Sofas can be major bed bug hotspots when used for sleeping.
Other common places to find bed bugs include: along and under the edge of wall-to-wall carpeting (especially behind beds and furniture); cracks in wood molding; ceiling-wall junctures; behind wall-mounts, picture frames, switch plates and outlets; under loose wallpaper; amongst clothing stored in closets; and inside clocks, phones, televisions and smoke detectors.
The challenge is to find and treat all places where bugs and eggs may be present. Bed bugs tend to congregate in certain areas, but it is common to find an individual or some eggs scattered here and there. Persistence and a bright flashlight are requisites for success. Professional Inspectors sometimes also inject a pyrethrum-based, flushing agent into crevices to help reveal where bugs may be hiding. A thorough treatment of a home, hotel, or apartment may take several hours or days.

Dust Mite Bites or Bed Bug Bites? – Bed Bug Treatment Site
Are you waking up in the morning or in the middle of the night with red and itchy welts on your skin?
Are you concerned that you may have dust mites or even worse, bed bugs? This article will help you get to the bottom of whats causing your problem, and help you figure out if you have Dust Mite Bites, Bed Bug Bites or maybe even something else.
Dust Mite
There is a common myth on the internet that dust mites bite. Well ease your concerns somewhat, as dust mites (also called bed mites) are harmful, but they dont bite.
Dust mites and bed bugs really have very little in common, other than the fact they can both live in your bed or home and both can cause health problems.
Lets compare the differences in dust mites and bed bugs:
If you are waking up in the morning, with itchy red welts on your skin, they are not being caused by dust mites, however, you may have bed bugs bites.
Bites can also be caused by many other things, including allergic reactions, and bites from other insects such as parasitic mites.
Top signs of bed bug bites include:
Get more information on our bed bug bites guide. You can also read more about how to tell if you have bed bugs, as bite marks are just one of the key signs of bed bugs.
Remember, there are no dust mite bites, dust mites DO NOT bite, so the symptoms of dust mites are very different than those of bed bugs and other biting insects.
There are more than 48,000 cataloged species of mites, dust mites being just one of those. A very small number of these mites are parasitic to humans and leave bite marks.
Since the majority of homes around the world have dust mites, there is very little you can do to control the mites themselves. You can, however, treat the symptoms, which are:
Many confuse a dust mite rash, with being bitten by dust mites. Again, dust mites do not bite but the allergic reaction they can cause can cause a rash if the reaction is severe. Treatment of the rash, and the allergic reaction that is causing it is best left to aphysician. Bed bugs, on the other hand, can form a bed bug rash, depending on how allergic the person is to their saliva.
Treatment for bed bug bites is basically the treatment of the symptoms themselves, as the bugs will be long gone by the time your bite marks show up the next morning. See, bed bugs are a bit sneaky. They have a numbing agent in their saliva, that keeps most people from feeling the bite when its occurring. Ironically that same numbing agent is what causes the inflammation and swelling later where the bite occurred.
Treatment of bed bug bites usually just involves washing and drying the area, then treating the itching and swelling with an anti-itch cream such as Cortaid or Benedryl cream. Normally bed bug bites go away on their own within a week or so unless you get new bites, which unfortunately is very common when you have a bed bug infestation. Also, people that are highly allergic, can take longer, up to 6 weeks.
Treating the symptoms with bed bugs is not the solution, you have to kill the bed bugs themselves, which can be tough, and often a drawn-out process. Fortunately, we provide lots of options and information on bed bug treatment.
Dust mites are different. Dust mites are nearly impossible to get rid of and reside in almost every single home in the world. Treatment for symptoms of Dust mites involves seeing your doctor to get treatment for allergies, as dust mite skin and fecal matter causes allergic reasons in some. Treatment of the dust mites themselves is virtually impossible, but minimizing dust and clutter can bring down their population in your home.
Prevention of dust mites is impossible. Regardless of how clean and tidy you keep your home, you will have dust mites. What you can control though is the amount of them. This is done through minimizing dust in your home. Some tips for minimizing dust include:

Bed Bug Control | Salt Lake City, Utah | A-1 Exterminators
A-1 Exterminators Proven Bed Bug Control Treatment
A-1 Exterminators is the premier bed bug exterminator in Utah . We start with a thorough inspection of all beds, bedrooms, known problem areas, and review the history of the infestation with the customer. We make recommendations on how to stop the spread of the bug to other parts of the house and other houses in your network of family and friends.
Then we treat. Treatment consists of spraying the mattress, box spring, bed frame, nightstands (and any other furniture within three feet of the bed or considered to be infested). We spray the baseboards throughout the entire house, paying special attention to the bedrooms and other known problem areas. This same process is repeated three times, spaced out by two weeks.
A-1 is the most experienced exterminator, when it comes to controlling bed bugs in Utah. We get excellent results. In the last 55 years we have treated many thousands of homes, and our technique yields a 99.1% success rate, which is why are happy to include a 45-day guarantee after the final treatment. In the ultra rare case that the three treatments do not eliminate the bed bug problem, we will be back to do a fourth treatment at no additional charge.
Bed bugs are the stuff of nightmares for many people, but in recent years they have made a comeback in the U.S. and throughout the world. Unlike some other kinds of pest infestations, stopping a bed bug outbreak is not often something that you can do on your own with some quick cleaning and good housekeeping. These tiny insects can travel from one location to another on infested luggage or furniture, and once they have taken up residence they are virtually impossible to eradicate without the help of a professional. Choosing the right bed bug exterminator in Salt Lake City is the most important decision youll make in this process.
How can you tell if you have a bed bug problem? Most people discover an infestation when they notice small, itchy bumps from bites in the night. These critters feed on blood, and prefer to live in an area that gives them easy access to their food source: people. Mattresses, couches, and bed frames are the most common culprits, where they can come out at night and feed. Most bed bugs are found within three feet of the bed.
The biggest problem with bed bugs is that they are extremely difficult to remove. Conventional pesticides do not work on them, and they will gradually spread to other rooms throughout your home. Because of this, professional bed bug control services in Salt Lake City are your best bet to getting rid of them.
With decades of experience in pest removal, the A-1 Exterminators team knows what it takes to eliminate bed bugs thoroughly. Our goal is to get rid of the infestation in every room of your home while leaving your furniture clean and completely unharmed. We get results quickly, and our work always comes with a 45-day guarantee for your peace of mind.
No matter how large or complex the job, we are always up to the task. A-1 is the trusted bug exterminator in Utah cities, such as West Valley, Sandy, and Park City and throughout the Salt Lake valley, for both residential and commercial properties. If you need our help to eliminate bed bugs, give us a call today.
