Chicago remains the worst city in the United States for blood-sucking bed bugs in an annual survey.

The city tops the list of 50 worst bed bug cities in the U.S. for the fourth year in a row.

New York and Philadelphia top out the cities with the most bed bugs on Orkins Top 50 Bed Bug Cities List.

Greensboro, N.C., saw the biggest jump this year, moving up 25 spots into the 18th worst city.

Milwaukee and Tampa were noted as other cities where the problem is getting worse. Las Vegas joined the list for the first time at number 35.

Minneapolis and Oklahoma City also joined the list no one wants to be on.

Bedbugs, which are small brownish insects, actually can be found just about anywhere headboards, sofas, couch cushions, clothes, luggage and plane, train and school bus seats.

The U.S. is pretty much overrun with bedbugs, Dini Miller Ph.D., an urban pest management specialist and entomologist at Virginia Tech, previously told The Messenger.

Theyre in every city, every town. Its not like these are a unique pest only to a few locations anymore. Theyre everywhere.

The bed bug cities list was based on treatment data from the metro areas where Orkin performed the most bed bug treatments from Dec. 1, 2022 Nov. 30, 2023. The ranking includes both residential and commercial treatments.

There was widespread coverage of claims that Paris was overrun with bed bugs last year. Its now believed that fake Russian reports stoked fears of the city being overrun with bed bugs.
