Two words: bed bugs – Review of ONE UN New York, New York …

I was unsure what the One UN hotel would be like, i ordered it through a Secret Hotel via Lastminute.com and it was at a very reasonable price for the area of Manhattan it is based.

The hotel is as central as you can be for the island, based a couple of blocks down from Grand Central, with numerous diners, bars and restaurants in the area. The links to the airports are fair enough for anywhere on the island, a short taxi to Laguardia or a longer set fair one to JFK or Newark, plus there is also the air-rail.

The hotel itself is in good condition, some renovations have taken place, with some ongoing by the looks but the rooms themselves were excellent. In fact the view was magnificent, straight across towards Brooklyn Bridge, with sightline to both The Empire State building and The Chrysler building from the 36 floor.

The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. I had no issues sleeping, the air con was simple and worked well.

The letdowns -

No free wi-fi The walls are not the thickest so you may here the creak of the bed from the adjacent and above room.

I would happily stay here again though.
