Fargo couple blames local rental store for bed bugs – INFORUM

"The bites kept getting worse," Taylor said. "All I do is itch all night. I went through 10 tubes of hydrocortisone cream."

Six-legged squatters took over the couple's couches and their bed.

"This was a new mattress. My husband and I slept on a blanket in here last night," Taylor said.

She said the home is unlivable now, and they have no choice but to hole up in a hotel for the time being.

But where did the the bedbugs come from?

The house's landlord says it's never had a bedbug infestation before.

Taylor believes they must be from the couches, which were rented from Aaron's rental in Fargo.

Aaron's says pre-owned furniture is washed and treated in order to make sure it's pest-free and they don't rent infested furniture.

Taylor works in hospitality, which is a high bedbug risk environment, but said she hasn't seen any for years.

"I haven't had any run-in with bed bugs since then," she said. "I just know what to look for."

Now her home has to be sprayed, which is expected to cost hundreds of dollars.

And she's preparing for a lawsuit, claiming Aaron's is to blame for months of suffering.

More than anything, Taylor wants her home back.

She said Aaron's offered to pay for extermination if the they drop their pending lawsuit.

Taylor said they're willing to drop the suit if the company takes the furniture back.
