Defeat Bed Bugs With Eco-Friendly And Organic Heat Treatment – KHTS Radio

Cardon Ellis, chief inspector of Unipest, walks us through the process of using heat treatment that is eco-friendly and organic to get rid of bed bugs and the eggs. The end goal is to ensure there is not a single bed bug left.

Homeowners contacted Unipest to get rid of their bed bug problem in their master bedroom. They requested eco-friendly or organic sprays which have been popular for ten to twenty years.

Theyre super effective and require no chemicals and second theyre super-fast, Cardon Ellis said.

In order to produce an effective four-hour heat treatment for bed bugs, you will need the following:

The first thing you do is actually remove all the wall plugs and the wall socket covers so the heat can indeed get into the walls, Cardon Ellis says. Bed bugs tend to hide in those little spots so its recommended to move all your stuff in the center of the room. This allows big fans to be place so it can withstand all kinds of temperatures.

Ellis has a 50,000 BTU heater by GreenTech which can burn through ten to twenty gallons of propane in one job. Once the room gets above 120 degrees, Ellis starts counting down the time until his team turns off the heater and moves on to the next step.

Basically, you need to have the room at 120 degrees for four hours, 130 degrees for three hours, or 140 degrees for two hours before you can call the job complete.

You can also use a thermal imager to see what is going on inside the house. The treatment provided by Ellis is ovicidal which means this will kill all the eggs inside the house. This will give you a complete kill.

Keep in mind this heat treatment has not used a single drop of chemical inside the house as requested.
