Bed bugs found in bedding and carpet of Myrtle Beach, SC … – Yahoo

A resort located on the south end of Myrtle Beach is being sued after patrons claim they were bit by bed bugs during a stay in the summer of 2023.

Anthony Neal, Veronica Neal and Elizabeth Traylor filed a negligence lawsuit against Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark, 2913 S. Ocean Blvd., on Oct. 16 after the group allegedly found bed bugs. The South Carolina residents stayed at the resort from July 15 to July 22 with their children.

A request for comment from the Crown Reef Beach Resort was not returned before publication.

The plaintiffs found bed bugs in the beds and carpeting and alerted the hotel to the problem, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit states the resort should have known and warned the Neals and Traylor about the infestation. It did not say if the patrons brought the bugs home.

The bed bugs caused the plaintiffs to see a hospital about their injuries and incur medical bills, according to the court complaint.

Crown Reef Beach Resort is being sued for negligence, unfair trade practices, breach of contract and premise liability for knowingly renting out a room that had bed bugs. Its also being sued for intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The plaintiffs are requesting an undetermined amount of damages and for the costs of the expenses of the suit.

Several lawsuits have been filed over the years against various hotels for issues with bed bugs.
