DEAR DEIDRE:BEDBUGS are causing me a nightmare.

We live in a council house and the bites started the night the kids and I moved in after the break-up of my relationship.

Ive complained to the council but no one is helping me. Im 26 and my children are five, two and three months.

I keep my house clean and Ive got new carpets and very little furniture, as I chucked it all out in case it was infected.

But the baby and I wake up in the night with bedbugs crawling on us. I feel desperate.

Its worth hiring a private firm, as the bugs can be resistant to some insecticides. See nhs.uk/conditions/bedbugs for how to calm bites.

This is feeling more distressing because its coming on top of the break-up of your relationship.
