Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite… especially on vacation – WZDX

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. When you travel, you don't want to bring home bed bugs as a souvenir. Here are some tips to prevent bringing these pests home with you.

Morton's Pest Control Owner Travis Morton says the small, brown insects feed on blood, and they find their meal using body odor. When staying at a hotel, make sure you know where to check for bed bugs.

"They will be in close proximity to the bed or in the couch if you've got somebody that sleeps on the couch on a regular basis," said Morton.

Morton says to avoid putting your suitcase on the bed and to be cautious even in a well-rated hotel.

"If you are staying in a hotel, you've got to assume they're in there," said Morton.

And if you see small bugs crawling around, don't hesitate to let the hotel know immediately.
