A WANTED killer is fighting extradition to his native Romania because he claims its prisons are infested with bedbugs.

Vasilica-Viorel Baciu, 35, was freed on licence after killing athletics champ Stefan Pavel in 2013.

But Baciu broke his curfew terms by coming to Britain.

Baciu appeared on a list of 'most wanted' criminals in Romania.

The wanted killer was arrested after posting a picture on Facebook showing him smiling in a London park.

Baciu's lawyer told Westminster magistrates: 'There is mould, infestation and bedbugs in the prison.

"A person should not be exposed to those surrounding conditions.

"There are some issues raised in the skeleton argument taking issue with the assurance that's been provided over the Romanian prisons.'

Baciu, whose victim, 26, died when he cracked his head on a kerb after being punched, was remanded in custody.

The next hearing will take place on October 8.
