Woman sends warning to neighbors after discovering bed bug infestation in apartment – FOX 46 Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Fox 46 Charlotte is helping get results after a Charlotte woman said she found bed bugs crawling out of the walls of her apartment. She's now helping get results for neighbors.

"I was told that if I said anything that I'd get in trouble for slander. But I felt I'd want the respect of being notified. I told the neighbors I do know and they were upset, but at least it gave them the opportunity to beware," said Danielle Cook.

She spoke out and helped get results for her neighbors. Her apartment was treated on Monday. The unit under her was also treated for bed bugs.

"If there was treatment done in one unit, they're already in the walls. Maybe they'll just go to the next unit."

Ashton Reserve at Northlake said in a statement that it took immediate action and found bed bugs in three apartments. Two have been treated. The third one is on the schedule.

"This is not my idea of luxury living. This is not anything I would ever intentionally subject my children to."

Good news for Danielle and her family of five: She's offered an out from her lease, but theres a catch. She has to keep quiet about the agreement and free Ashton Reserve of any liability.

"To be treated this way and to be put through this - me and my children - all for doing the right thing and reporting an issue. I don't think this should be called luxury living."

We'll follow-up to continue getting results for folks living at Ashton Reserve at Northlake.
