I recently ran into bed bugs in a very nice, reasonably high end hotel in Manitoba. I can tell you that no matter the price of the hotel, the location of the hotel or the reviews online or rating online you always have the chance of running into bed bugs anywhere! Most hotels all over the world have had them at some point. Most hotels have plans in place and take care of the matter correctly. Your best plan is to educate yourself on the issue, check your hotel room, and do certain things such as never putting your bag on a bed etc to ensure you don't bring them home. There is lots of proper advice online if you look for it.

I laid in a bed for 12 hours that had bed bugs before discovering them. It was a horrible experience. The hotel was mortified and after dealing with their pest control, educating myself, taking precautions etc I did not bring them home. Thankfully. This hotel was not on a bed bug registry. If you are concerned about bed bugs just assume everywhere has them, check the room and take precautions and then relax and enjoy your vacation. There is no point in asking if a specific hotel has them, anywhere can have them. They can be free of bed bugs one day and then have an infected room the next. Most places handle the issue very well. Relax. Take precautions anywhere you travel regardless of price, hotel, location etc and then enjoy yourself. This is coming from someone who lived the experience firsthand, had nightmares for weeks, and survived the ordeal and came out the other side a more educated, reasonable person.
