Signs Of An Infestation:

Common first signs of an infestation are bites that even most doctors will not be able to immediately identify. These bites will leave rashes of different sizes and be itchy. If you feel you get bites after waking up in the morning, it could be a bed bug bite

Bed bugs can be found often by looking for black stains or smears on beds, which are the bugs droppings. Sometimes an engorged bug is accidentally killed or disgorged by accidental crushing, resulting in a visible blood stain.

They hide in cracks and crevices of a room including furniture, moldings, outlets, and carpeting. They generally stay as close to the host (you) as possible.

Bed bugs can go unnoticed for weeks making control more difficult.

Bed Bug Facts:

Bed bugs are small, reddish brownish, flattened insects that feed solely on the blood of animals. Fully grown they are approximately 1/4 of an inch in length, while hatchlings are about the size of a poppy seed. They have piercing mouthparts to draw blood for food and females lay about 200 eggs. The eggs hatch in about 1 to 2 weeks and in 4 to 8 weeks those Newborns will be ready to lay their own eggs.

Bed bugs can live anywhere!

Bed Bugs hide in cracks and crevices during day and normally you will find them in the folds and tufts of mattresses, inside the mattress box spring, in cracks and hollow posts of bed stands, bed rails and headboards. They may be found in inside furniture and the bottom and sides of drawers or even in upholstery of chairs and sofas. They will hide in and under carpet, in cracks of hardwood floors, outlets, wall voids, and luggage.

Sometimes they can be found behind seams in wallpaper, behind pictures on the walls, under door and window casings, and behind baseboards. They prefer to stay near their primary food (you) and arent restricted to these places If necessary, bed bugs will feed on other animals, such as birds, mice, dogs, and cats. They normally feed at night, but may feed in the daylight in rooms that are not used at night.

They are challenging pests to control because they hide in many tiny places, and you cant get rid of their food source so treatments must be very thorough.

Bed bugs can survive for many months without feeding, and therefore they may already be present in apparently vacant or clean apartment. These pests can also wander between adjoining apartments through voids in walls and holes though which wires and pipes pass.
