CimeXa Insecticide Dust has a long residual effect but can be used in fewer areas, while Zenprox Aerosol or Sterifab can be applied in places where dust cannot.

Sterifab acts as a contact kill on bed bugs and bed bug eggs, using a combination of a synthetic pyrethroid and isopropyl alcohol. Because Sterifab does not leave any residual, it can be applied virtually anywhere. Zenprox Aerosol has several active ingredients, including Etofenprox, a new pyrethroid effective even for resistant strains of bed bugs. Zenprox Aerosol has some residual effect, but it is an excellent knockdown agent. CimeXa Insecticide Dust contains amorphous silica gel, which acts as a desiccant when insects crawl across it. Dust is extremely stable, but it is only for use in voids and areas where it will not be easily disturbed or picked up by people or pets.

Brief History of Bed Bugs

Bed Bugs became virtually extinct thanks to the use of strong pesticides like DDT. In 1973, the EPA banned this particular pesticide because of the harmful effects it could have on humans and the environment.

Stayed in Mayfair hotel New York on 3 June 2013, room 211, At night took extra sheet and found bed bug. Next day complained to concierge and show him blood on the sheet. Took suitcase, told to concierge that we are leaving to other hotel, requested refund, sent e-mail to hotel manager with complains. Employees at the New York Department of Financial Services building, located on State Street, are complaining about bed bugs, the Daily News reports.

Senior Insurance Examiner Ademola Oluwo, told the Daily News he obtained internal agency memos showing the State Street problem wasnt new. The complex had a bedbug problem before DFS started transferring employees there earlier this year from 25 Beaver St. while merging its banking and insurance divisions.

While saying the health and safety of our employees is our number one priority, DFS spokesman Matt Anderson said theres no evidence the building is totally overrun by the dread insects.

Recently, We've had documented cases of two bugs, Anderson said. We've taken extensive steps to fumigate and will continue to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure the issue is addressed."

DFS has about 1,000 employees spread out over nine floors in the building, which has other tenants as well.
