Bed Bug Lawsuits – Bed Bug Attorneys

The return of bed bugs is a serious legal issue as well as a medical issue. Bed bugs are showing up everywhere: in apartment buildings, college dorms, government buildings, luxury hotels like the Waldorf-Astoria, which has been sued by guests who say they got chewed up at the New York landmark.

Bed Bug lawsuits have been filed recently against cruise lines, retail furniture companies, furniture rental companies, Laundromats, dry cleaners and more. Bed Bug Lawsuits can be difficult because it can be hard to assign legal responsibility to where the bed bugs originated. Bed bug Lawsuits are most successful when it can be proved someone failed to take proper measures to eradicate bed bugs.

Gather your evidence. You should be able to pinpoint, as accurate as possible, where and when the infestation occurred. Take pictures, document as much as possible. If it is a case with a landlord or tenant, you should also document all steps taken to notify the responsible party of the problem and what they did if anything to resolved the issue.

Contact an attorney! Protect your legal rights. Because of the limited amount of case law concerning bed bug infestations, having a lawyer is very important in achieving success when filing a lawsuit for damages or compensation in bed bug cases.

If you or someone you know have been affected by bed bugs at any commercial property or facility, please contact an attorney for a FREE case evaluation.

Three Easy Ways To Identify A Bed Bug Infestation 1) You have bites on your body that resemble a pimple, mosquito bite or a welt. Important note: Not everyone will exhibit signs of bed bug bites.

2) Seeing bed bugs, their eggs, or exoskeleton shells.

3) Finding fecal matter left by the bed bugs or seeing stains that resemble blood spots on sheets or walls from bed bugs being inadvertently squashed.

Pests Commonly Confused with Bed Bugs

1) Fleas are commonly mistaken for bed bugs due to both their small size and their similar bite marks. Flea bites are actually more severe however, as they can transmit disease and pose other health hazards.

2) Ticks may also be confused for bed bugs due to their similar size and appearance. Ticks are solitary pests and do not congregate in the house.

3) Bat bugs look so similar to bed bugs that you would need a magnifying glass to see the difference.

Bed bugs are notorious hitchhikers. While its most sensationalized that you can pick up bed bugs from staying at a hotel with an infestation, you can just as easily pick them up simply by sitting in a movie theater, or putting your suitcase or book bag next to another that has bed bugs in it.

Three Reasons To Treat Your Bed Bug Problem Immediately

1) Although not known to transmit diseases, bed bugs nest in places where you are most susceptible to bites; beds, couches, and chairs. And while not everyone will have a severe allergic reaction to bed bug bites, why leave it to chance?

2) Bed bugs carry a social stigma with them. People with infestations are understandably embarrassed to talk about it, and find their social life suffering as they decline visiting other homes or having visitors in fear of spreading the bed bug problem.

3) Knowing your home has been invaded and compromised by bed bugs causes a great deal of stress, possibly resulting in fatigue, insomnia, irritability, and other ailments associated with psychological stress.

Our treatments range from conventional solutions to K-9 bed bug inspections to state-of-the-art heat treatments. Your technician will recommend different treatment services depending on the specifics of the infestation.

We recommend that you hire a professional pest control company at the earliest sign of bed bugs. Bed bugs spread fast - each mature female bed bug can lay as many as 500 eggs in their short lifetime.

Give us a call at 1-800-837-5520 to schedule a FREE bed bug inspection.

Your Ehrlich technician will be able to review and recommend multiple solutions that are available to bring your bed bug problem under control.

We take a sensitive and sympathetic approach recognizing how emotional and stressful a bed bug infestation may be.

Our use of trained bed bug dogs, will help to accurately detect and locate the presence of bed bugs. This will enable us to provide targeted solutions to identified bed bug hotspots.

This environmentally-friendly process has now been adopted in the industry for bed bug control. Heat treatment is widely regarded as one of the most effective solutions for bed bugs.

Portable heaters, either electric or propane-fired, are used to gradually heat the ambient air within rooms to above 120 F while monitoring with strategically placed temperature sensors and infrared thermometers.

This high temperature is then held for 1 to 3 hours or more depending on the level of infestation, and relative level of clutter in the treated rooms.

Heat treatment is a low risk option for customers (and their pets), and the environment due to the minimal use of pesticides.

The service can be completed in just one day rather than over the course of a few weeks, and its effective against all life stages of a bed bug.

Contact your local Ehrlich office at 1-800-837-5520 to find out more, as heat treatment is not offered in every service area.

Conventional treatments consisting of insecticides remains our primary and most turned to approach for handling bed bugs.

Several insecticide formulations, including liquids, dusts and aerosols, are typically required for a thorough bed bug service due in part to the varying types of surfaces, materials and situations encountered.

Dusts are an excellent tool to use when treating for bed bugs. These formulations tend to last longer than their liquid counterparts and can be easily applied into voids where liquids may not reach or should not be applied.

Aerosols are also convenient tools, especially when fitted with a crack and crevice tip, allowing direct application into cracks and crevices where bed bugs like to hide.

Vacuuming will be able to remove large portions of a bed bug population from areas where they are visible

Treatment will usually begin at the focal point of the infestation, which is generally the bed in an infested room.

This will be followed by careful treatment of all items in the vicinity, including baseboards, floor/wall junctions, tack strips under carpets, behind electrical outlets and switches, cracks in walls and floors, items hanging on walls and relevant structural voids.

High temperatures are lethal to most insects provided they cannot quickly escape to a cooler location. The temperatures produced by portable steam units are more than sufficient to kill bed bugs and their eggs upon contact.

Steaming allows us to treat all surfaces of mattresses, box springs and upholstered furniture, which are often restricted with insecticides.

Steaming tends to get bed bugs to move out of deeper recesses as the temperature begins to rise, making them more likely to expose themselves or cross any applied insecticide.

Using steam treatment, means there is less need for applying pesticides.

Steam may NOT be appropriate for treating all surfaces due to the moisture that is produced.

While not our first choice, bed bug fumigation is also an option in a few select situations.

Fumigation uses materials in a gaseous state, which can penetrate all items placed within a fumigation space and is able to kill all stages of bed bugs present during the exposure period.

Freezing is also an option for eliminating bed bugs from some items which can not be treated conventionally

As a homeowner, you can action this solution by using your home freezer.

Enclose infested items in plastic bags and freeze them for about a week.

A chest type freezer will allow you to freeze larger items too.

While freezing is reported to be effective against nymphs and adults, eggs appear to be more tolerant of cold temperatures and must be exposed for at least 30 days before they become non-viable.

At Ehrlich, we ensure that there is a follow-up with every customer.

Our current standard practice is for at least 2 follow-up visits after the initial corrective service, to include inspection and treatment as needed.

We provide this service to ensure that we have effectively resolved your bed bug problem.

Get Rid of Bed Bugs, Bed Bug Treatment | Connor’s Termite …

No matter how nice or clean a bedroom looks, it could be infested. Bed bugs live anywhere people sleepin homes, hotels, hospitals and schoolsand quietly feed on human blood. If that's not enough to motivate you to get rid of bed bugs, the tell-tale itchy red bumps they leave behind on your skin should do the trick!

Finding and eliminating bed bugs is best left to the professionals. Bed bugs like to hide in small crevices, making them difficult to detect and even harder to kill. They often hide in bedroom walls, mattresses, carpet, nightstands and even alarm clocks.

Connors Pest Protection offers two types of bed bug inspection: visual and K-9. Our bed bug experts know what to look for and where to look for bed bugs in your home or business. Visual inspections by our trained service technicians are available for $50. But because bed bugs are tiny and adept at hiding in out-of-the-way places, detecting all of their hiding places through visual inspection is difficult.

For bed bug detection, dogs are our best friends. Bed bug dogs detect odors 10,000 times better than humans and use their strong sense of smell to quickly find bed bugs wherever they hide. The precision of K-9 inspections enables us to focus treatment only on the problem areas, which means lower costs and less disruption of your space. Connors partners with K-9 Pest Detection to offer cutting-edge canine bed bug inspections by certified trained dogs for $225.

Our approach to getting rid of bed bugs is to effectively kill them with minimaldisruption of your home or business environment. After a thorough bed bug inspection, we recommend a customized bed bug treatment approach using heat treatment, conventional treatment or fumigation.

Heat treatment, or thermal remediation, involves the application of extreme heat to kill bed bugs. More thorough and effective than bed bug powder, our specially designed heat-generating equipment creates and maintains a precise high temperature that the bed bugs and their eggs cannot survive. This revolutionary treatment is environmentally responsible, and requires less planning and preparation.

In conventional bed bug treatment, environmentally responsible products are applied in conjunction with steam treatment. This treatment option is relatively more time-consuming and causes some living space disruption. Eliminating bed bugs using conventional methods requires a minimum of three intense treatments, usually scheduled two weeks apart.

For homes, fumigation is the most aggressive and effective treatment option.During fumigation, the building is secured in a gigantic plastic tent andthe entire interioristreated with a product called Vikane. Because of its higher cost andsignificant planning and preparationrequirements, we recommendfumigationforonly the most problematic bed bug infestations.

Ourthoroughtreatment process ends with a follow-up inspectionto ensure success. You will rest easy knowing the bed bugs are gone.
