Florida Bugs | Florida Exterminators: Bed Bugs-Ants-Spiders

Here are a few of the top pests in our region that you may recognize in your home or office.

Live in hot areas of your home such as attics and feed on many common glue products such as the backing on your wallpaper as well as paper bags, books, cereal and wheat flour. In search of food and water, they are often found in kitchens, bathtubs and bookshelves, closets and behind baseboards.

Are generally found on the exterior of your home around exterior lights, inside they congregate in corners of the ceiling where their webs can catch flying insects. Some can be found in dark, moist spaces inside your home. In Florida, spiders can oftentimes be poisonous causing serious risk to your health. The best way for to avoid a spider infestation is to turn off outside lights especially in the spring and summer when flying insects are so prevalent.

South Florida Bed Bug Heat Treatment | West Palm Beach Bed Bug …

Heat Treatment

Click Here To Prepare For Heat Treatment

It was a pleasure to meet with you today and to share my plight with those nasty bed bugs and how I am now rid of them using Advanced Pest Control's services.

South Florida bed bug heat treatment provides area homeowners and business owners a way to eradicate their properties from bed bugs without the use of harmful chemicals. At Advanced Green Pest Control, we use heat technology to effectively kill bed bugs, often in a single treatment, without exposing our clients to dangerous pesticides.

In the past, chemicals were used to kill and control these infestations. However, these bugs are developing immunities to commonly used chemicals, and extermination companies are having to use more and more treatments to effectively kill off the pests. In fact, in a survey of pest control operators performed by the University of Massachusetts, 68 percent of those reporting had to use three or more treatments to effectively get rid of the pests. In your home, this means your family is being exposed to toxins three or more times!

We also advocate the use of heat to get rid of the bugs because of the resistance the critters are developing to pesticides. As the bugs become resistant to one chemical, exterminators must either increase the amount of the chemical, which then increases your exposure, or switch to a different chemical.

Chemical pesticides used for these bugs also wreak havoc on the ecosystem. DDT, once an effective treatment, has been banned because of its effect on wildlife after leaching into the environment. We believe that offering an environmentally friendly option to deal with bed bugs simply makes sense, because we want to protect our natural resources for your children and grandchildren.

Heat treatment works better than conventional pesticides, does not damage the environment, and does not create potential toxins for your family to be exposed to. If you face an infestation, call Advanced Green Pest Control today and ask about our South Florida bed bug heat treatment.

Bed Bugs — School IPM

Bed Bugs in Schools Here are some tips for dealing with bed bugs in schools.

1. De-cluttering is an activity that makes all IPM activities work better. A clean, clutter free environment reduces pest pressure.

2. Use monitoring and inspection as a part of bed bug PREVENTION, then reporting sightings to the appropriate contact. (The line of communication is specific to each school district. If you find bed bugs do not keep them a secret, this will only make the problem worse.)

3. Know the difference between an INTRODUCTION and an INFESTATION. An infestation can be defined as having virtually all of the life-cycle was present (eggs, nymphs and adults). Finding bed bugs on students will most likely be classified as an introduction into the classroom as opposed to finding bed bugs in the environment (usually classroom), even if the students jacket or backpack may contain more than one stage of the bed bug life cycle.

A final recommendation is to adjust your expectation of what control means where bed bugs are concerned. There are no quick fixes to this issue.

Florida School IPM News issues from November of 2010, March of 2011 and June 2011 have facts about bed bugs and links to bed bug resources you may find useful.

For basic biology information on bed bugs we recommend this publication developed by the University of Florida.

Bed bug management in schools developed by Pest Management University at the University of Florida will be available soon. Please check back.

The Florida Bed Bug Workgroup Website was created to develop bed bug awareness for Florida consumers that includes information on effective and legal control methods.

The Virginia Dept. of Agriculture received US EPA funds to develop a series of fact sheets. Dr. Dini Miller of VPI was tasked with producing the fact sheets which are nationally applicable. Bed Bug Prevention Methods. This fact sheet may be helpful to school staff and students as they prepare to travel. Non-chemical Bed Bug Management, Bed Bug Treatment Using Insecticides.
