Gemtek Pest Control Announces Full Release of Pest+ Bed Bug and Termite Protection

Boise, Idaho (PRWEB) June 12, 2014

Gemtek Pest Control, Inc announced today that its newly introduced Pest+ Bed Bug and Termite Protection will be included as a part of all new standard service agreements. Additionally, current customers will be able to add the program to their service plans for $120 per year. The program will remain optional for all service plans, but will not be available as a stand-alone product.

Pest+ was introduced several months ago in light of increased bed bug and termite activity in the state of Idaho. The program was created with the consumer in mind, offering an alternative to dealing with the insects, and providing customers with a buffer against high costs for treatment and repair. Typical treatment and repair costs can reach thousands of dollars.

Bed bug populations have spiked over the last decade due to increased travel and stiffer pesticide regulations. These insects find their way into homes by hitchhiking on luggage and clothing, and have been found in hotels, apartments, movie theaters, and on second-hand items.

Termites continue to be a problem for homeowners as they are easily introduced to new areas through wood and lumber shipments. According to estimates, termites cause over $5 billion in property damage and are a source of scrutiny when it comes to home sales and loans.

The protection provided by Pest+ includes an annual home and crawl space inspection for bed bugs and termites. If either of the insects are present, Gemtek will treat them with no additional cost. At the same time, customers will still receive Gemteks signature service for general pest treatment.

About Gemtek Pest Control, Inc.: Gemtek Pest Control was founded in 2006 and is now Idahos largest pest control company. With over 10,000 active accounts in the Treasure Valley, McCall, Sun Valley, and Twin Falls, Gemtek prides itself on giving the best customer service in the industry. Gemtek is accredited by the Better Business Bureau and received the Super Service Award from Angies List in 2013.

This Hotel has bed bugs – Review of Comfort Inn, Boise, ID …

We stayed there for what was suppose to be one night, we were woken by bed bugs at 3AM, when we approaced and showed the clerk he said that there was nothing he could do about it, we would have to talk to the manager, the manager offered 50% after a lenghty wait till( 7AM from 3AM) off the bill. You be the judge if you will stay there or not, my recommendation is definately NO, it is not only dirty but the manager is very unfair, you would have thought she would have refunded all the money not just 50%, I called international hotels and they could do nothing about it except talk to the manager which did absoutly nothing for us, I called the health dept in Boise and heard nothing back, I informed the newspaper and heard nothing back also, Stay out of Boise Idaho, or at least the comfort inn on airport way. Unfortunately bed bugs are on the rise everywhere and it does happen. At the time of your stay you were traveling across the country. We had never had any issues with bed bugs at our hotel. We are inspected weekly for pest control, because many times frequent travelers in and out of hotels end up bringing the little critters with them on their clothes and travel items. We became suspicious of that being the case, when we moved you to another room and you still had a problem. We had had no other complains regarding bed bugs before or after your stay at our hotel. After your departure and the pest control was brought in, the only place bed bugs were found were in the two rooms you were in. I apologize for any bed bug experience that happens at our property, because it is a huge cause for alarm. But rest assured, we actively and regularly take proactive measures to ensure that they are not on our property before and after the time of your stay here.

Bed bug infestations may cause irritating, itchy bite reactions, and anxiety. Over the past few years, bed bugs have been spreading in large cities worldwide.

Bed Bugs

The common bed bug has long been a pest feeding on blood, causing itchy bites, and generally irritating their human hosts. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) all consider bed bugs a public health pest. However, unlike most public health pests, bed bugs are not known to transmit the spread of disease.

Knowing what to look for is the first step in controlling bed bugs. Generally, adult bed bugs are 1/4 to 3/8 inch (4-5mm) long, brown in color, with a flat, oval-shaped body; while young bed bugs (also called nymphs) are smaller and lighter in color.

When not feeding, bed bugs hide in a variety of places. Around the bed, they can be found near the piping, seams, and tags of the mattress and box spring and in cracks on the bed frame and head board.

(from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website.)

Myth: You cant see a bed bug. Reality: You should be able to see adult bed bugs, nymphs, and eggs with your naked eye.

Myth: Bed bugs live in dirty places. Reality: Bed bugs are not attracted to dirt and grime; they are attracted to warmth, blood, and carbon dioxide. However, clutter offers more hiding places.

Myth: Bed bugs transmit diseases. Reality: There are no cases that indicate bed bugs pass diseases from one host to another. Lab tests have shown that it is unlikely that the insect is capable of infecting its host.

The state of Idaho i /adho/ is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States of America. The state's largest city and capital is Boise. Residents are called "Idahoans." Idaho was admitted to the Union on July 3, 1890 as the 43rd state.

Idaho is a mostly mountainous state, with an area larger than all of New England. It is landlocked, surrounded by the states of Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and the Canadian Province of British Columbia. However, the network of dams and locks on the Columbia River and Snake River make the city of Lewiston the farthest inland seaport on the west coast of the continental United States.

To residents of the state and regular visitors, Idaho is regarded as a highly outdoors-oriented community. Central Idaho is home to one of North America's oldest ski resorts, Sun Valley, where the world's first chairlift was installed. Snow sports are keystones of Idaho's identity, with a ski resort near almost every urban area. Whitewater rafting and kayaking are among the state's major pastimes. Hell's Canyon and the Salmon River boast some of North America's finest whitewater, with the nearby town of Riggins, ID serving as the state's informal whitewater capital. According to the US Census Bureau, in 2009 the population for Idaho was estimated to be 1,545,801. The state's postal abbreviation is ID. Idaho's nickname is the Gem State because nearly every known gem has been found there. In addition, Idaho is one of only two places in the world where star garnets can be found (the other is the Himalaya Mountains, in India), and is the only place six pointed star garnets have been found. The state motto is Esto Perpetua (Latin for "Let it be forever").

Idaho is the 14th largest state by land area.

Idaho borders six states and one Canadian province. The states of Washington and Oregon are to the west, Nevada and Utah are to the south, and Montana and Wyoming are to the east. Idaho also shares a short border with the Canadian province of British Columbia to the north. The landscape is rugged with some of the largest unspoiled natural areas in the United States. For example, at 2.3 million acres (9,300km), the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness Area is the largest contiguous area of protected wilderness in the continental United States. Idaho is a Rocky Mountain state with abundant natural resources and scenic areas. The state has snow-capped mountain ranges, rapids, vast lakes and steep canyons. The waters of Snake River rush through Hells Canyon, the deepest canyon in the United States.

Shoshone Falls plunges down rugged cliffs from a height greater than that of Niagara Falls. The major rivers in Idaho are the Snake River, the Clark Fork/Pend Oreille River, the Clearwater River, the Salmon River. Other significant rivers include the Coeur d'Alene River, the Spokane River, the Boise River, and the Payette River. The Salmon River empties into the Snake in Hells Canyon and forms the southern boundary of Nez Perce County on its north shore, of which Lewiston is the county seat. The Port of Lewiston, at the confluence of the Clearwater and the Snake Rivers is the farthest inland seaport on the West Coast at 465 river miles from the Pacific at Astoria, Oregon.

Idaho's highest point is Borah Peak, 12,662ft (3,859m), in the Lost River Range north of Mackay. Idaho's lowest point, 710ft (216m), is in Lewiston, where the Clearwater River joins the Snake River and continues into Washington. The Sawtooth Range is often considered Idaho's most famous mountain range. Other mountain ranges in Idaho include the Bitterroot Range, the White Cloud Mountains, the Lost River Range, the Clearwater Mountains, and the Salmon River Mountains.

Southern Idaho, including the Boise metropolitan area, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and Twin Falls are in the Mountain Time Zone. (A legislative oddity (15 U.S.C.ch.6 264) theoretically placed this region in the Central Time Zone, but this error was corrected with a 2007 Amendment.) Areas north of the Salmon River, including Coeur d'Alene, Moscow, Lewiston, and Sandpoint are in the Pacific Time Zone and revolve commercially and culturally around Seattle through the second largest city, Spokane, Washington.

Idaho has much variation in its climate. Although the state's western border is located about 350miles (560km) from the Pacific Ocean, the maritime influence is still felt in Idaho, especially in the winter when cloud cover, humidity, and precipitation are at their highest points. This influence has a moderating effect in the winter where temperatures are not as low as would otherwise be expected for a northern state with a mostly elevated altitude. The maritime influence is lowest in the southeastern part of the state where the precipitation patterns are often reversed, with wetter summers and drier winters, and seasonal temperature differences more extreme, showing a more continental climate.
