CLEVELAND, Ohio Employees at the Justice Center in downtown Cleveland are on high alert after bed bugs were discovered inside the facility on Monday.

Darren Toms, Community Outreach Coordinator for the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, confirms to FOX 8 News that the bed bugs were found in a undisclosed area of the Justice Center sometime on Monday.

Bed bugs experts were on hand Monday afternoon to answer questions and provide treatment information to all employees.

According to the Cuyahoga County Bed Bug Task Force, bed bug numbers in offices tend to be low, increasing by periodic reintroductions; rather than through reproduction.

Toms explains that the Cleveland Department of Public Health, public health officials and pest control operators in northeast Ohio are responding to a significant increase in bed bug complaints.

However, authorities believe that Mondays finding is an isolated incident.

Toms goes on to say that, the bugs are found in office buildings, retail stores, hospitals, buses, or any other place where people gather.

It is estimated that tens of thousands people visit the Justice Center every week.

Bed Bugs – Ohio Department of Health

Have you ever seen a bed bug?

Bed bugs are insects that feed on human blood and have lived with people for thousands of years. References to bed bugs are present in literature from as far back as 400 B.C. and were a common part of life in Europe by the 1600s.

These insects were once thought to be eradicated from the United States, but they are making a comeback and have affected every major city in Ohio. In the past four years, significant increases in bed bug reports to local health departments highlight the need for education and effective action against infestations.

So why have bed bugs returned? Although the bugs were nearly wiped out in the United States in the 1950s, other parts of the world did not see a similar decline. Changing pesticide use in combination with international travel and commerce left an opening for bed bugs to again take hold in the United States. Pesticide resistance contributes to the challenge of controlling this pest. While bed bugs are not known to transmit disease, they do bite and may cause allergic reactions. An infestation of bed bugs may be very costly and difficult to control and usually requires professional pest control help.

Bed Bugs Cause Fire in Marion Ohio, My Cleaning Products Gives Tips to Prevent Bed-Bug-Related Incidents

Marion, OH (PRWEB) January 03, 2014

Due to bed bugs, a house in Marion, Ohio recently went on fire. News website marionstar.com detailed the incident on its post on December 28, 2013. In connection with it, My Cleaning Products gave out a tip how the public could prevent such a bed-bug-related incident.

In the report, it was specified that the burned house was a duplex owned by Dave Cook, My Cleaning Products related. It said that it was at 800 Block of East Center Street.

The fire, according to the post, started after Cook tried to eliminate the bed bugs in a bedroom with three kerosene torpedo heaters, MCP shared. It added that they got in contact with an object which started the flame. Good thing, it stated, the blaze was contained in the attic and nobody was hurt. Nevertheless, it relayed that it still left a costly damage with an estimated worth of $22,500.

Here is an excerpt from the post Bed Bugs Started Fire by My Cleaning Products.

A duplex at 800 block of East Center Street in Marion, Ohio sustained quite a damage from a fire on Saturday. And it was all because of bed bugs the tiny vampire-like critters.

Shortly after 3 am on December 28, smoke was seen at the said two-story building owned by Dave Cook. A report had it that his attempt to kill bed bugs via heat set the place in blaze.

According to MCP, bed bugs could truly bring in unnecessary spending. Besides the treatment, it stated that those expenses could cover replacement of furniture pieces infested by them or damaged by any bed-bug-related incident as fire.

Given that and the fact that bed bugs are sneaky, My Cleaning Products asserted that one must always have a bed bug spray ready. That way, a person could kill bed bugs fast and prevent the worst of the things it could bring, such as causing a blaze, it stated.

However, of all the bed bug sprays in the market today, the company advised the public to get Bed Bug Bully over the others. It declared that it's the best choice as it is unlike most of the pesticides, which are made with harsh chemicals.

Bed Bugs Plague Another Ohio Firehouse, My Cleaning Products Suggests a Pesticide-Exempt Bed Bug Spray to Help Others …

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) December 24, 2013

Bed bugs infested yet another fire station. And in response to it, My Cleaning Products suggested a pesticide-exempt bed bug spray to help others fighting the same pesky insects.

In a report from dispatch.com published on December 21, 2013, it was specified that a firehouse in Whitehall was the latest victim of those vampire-like pests, My Cleaning Products shared. It detailed that they were discovered on Friday morning when the firefighters showed up in a roll call with bed bug bites.

Particularly, the report said that the critters were discovered in the bunks of the station, MCP relayed. And so, following the discovery of them, it stated that Whitehalls Division of Fire then transferred the sleeping quarters to the basement of the building. In addition, it related that the public was informed about the incident and a bed bug prevention plan was developed.

Here is an excerpt from the report Bed Bugs Infest Whitehall Fire Station by My Cleaning Products.

Bed bugs are becoming a real pain to firehouses. Recently, they were found in the bunks of yet another fire station in Ohio that of Whitehall.

The presence of those pesky insects was discovered last Friday after firefighters showed up for a roll call with bed bug bites all over.

According to My Cleaning Product, bed bugs are so prevalent these days, it seems there's no more place that they couldn't invade. And that, it said, puts everyone at a bigger risk of picking up the pests and getting their homes infested.

But worse, it stated, is that anyone could bring home those critters without knowing it. That's because they are small and are good hitchhikers, it cited.

Because of that, MCP stressed everyone must always be wary of beg bug signs. And to eliminate bed bugs promptly, it asserted that the public must also have a bed bug spray ready. With that, it stated one could prevent them from multiplying and avoid the worst of the problems they could bring.
