Bed Bugs! What You Need to Know | The Bug Man

Bed bugs are being discovered on a daily basis here in the Middle Tennessee region. In houses, apartments, hotels and even retail outlets, it appears that everyone is a target. Bed bugs have been feeding on humans since the beginning of recorded history. The bed bugs were nearly eliminated from the United States until the past ten years. Now we hear reports of them on a daily basis. I am going to discuss how you may transport the bed bugs, ways you can identify the bed bugs, and steps you can take to help prevent an infestation.

First, we need to be able to identify a bed bug. The bed bug is nocturnal, or active at night. They hide in cracks and crevices until the lights go out, then they come out and hunt for a blood meal. The bed bugs do leave behind signs that they are present. If you pull back the bedding on a mattress or bedspring, you want to look for rust colored staining on the mattress, usually along the seams and edges, or between the mattress and boxspring. You also may see live, active bed bugs when you are searching! Also, look at the cracks and crevices around the headboard. You may end up staring one in the eyes! If you find bed bugs at a hotel, I would request a different room immediately. If bed bugs are discovered at your home, it is time to call in the professionals.

A few tips on traveling to a hotel: A. Dont place your luggage on the bed, keep it on the opposite wall away from the bed. B. Check the mattress and headboard as described above as soon as you arrive at the room. C. Leave, with your bags, as soon as you find evidence of bedbugs. You might even take a few photos with your phone to document what you find as management may need to see proof.

Now, let us talk transportation. How are you going to move these bed bugs into your home? Unfortunately, the bed bug is a master at hitching a ride. The bed bug can be transported in a purse, on electronics, in clothing, bedding, personal belongings, and even in your car. We have had reports of bed bugs joining the party by traveling to a sleepover in a sleeping bag or backpack of young children. I suggest that you are very careful about buying used furniture, clothing, and appliances from thrift stores, yard sales, or as a gift from a friend. Unless you know the place is bed bug free, you are taking a huge risk. We have heard from many customers stories of a friend or relative moving in and bringing an infestation of bed bugs with them. Or, they say how they got a great deal on a bedroom set, just to find out they now have a bed bug infestation. Saving a few dollars on the front end may cost you thousands later. Be careful and fully inspect the items before you take possession of them.

I receive questions about how to rid a home or room of bed bugs. While it can be done, it is tough to do it as a homeowner. A professional will have the proper tools, training, and products on hand to have the best success eliminating the bed bug infestation. It is always easiest to solve a bed bug problem when it first presents itself, so dont wait a few weeks or months to see if they just go away. The Bug Man has trained technicians ready to protect your home from bed bugs. Contact us for more information.

Victims Of Bed Bug Infestations Have Much To Know About …

After having been away for five decades years in the developed world, bed bugs have marched back to take control of our hotel and motel rooms, our homes and our rooms, and for many of us only the services of a Tennessee bed bug control company can save us. Considering that bed bugs make their living by biting warm-blooded creatures in order to drink their blood, it should not be much of a shock to anyone that we do not want to have any bed bugs anywhere near us.

These insects are not merely a hungry guest. They can harm our bodies by their feeding upon our blood. Some of the badness they are responsible for are skin rashes and allergies. There is even a single particular breed that prefers to drink human blood above that of our furry pets. And, the problem is that once they settle in place it can time a whole lot of time, effort and money to get them under control and to kill them.

Additionally, bed bugs are more than a threat to a familys physical well being; they are also a genuine danger to the health of their mental state. Living a life where one is always suffering from rashes and not able to sleep a solid sleep is not easy. Additionally, it is embarrassing to live in a home that has so many pests that friends and family are afraid to come over. Surely, if any of your friends or family members have been through a bed bug infestation, you are already well aware of how damaging these parasitic guys are.

Historically, bug control companies used powerful chemicals to get at the bed bugs in a persons home. Eradicating bed bugs in this manner was expensive and difficult to do and did was not always effective since in many cases the chemicals did not get to the bed bugs and eggs that were deeply hidden within mattresses or other pieces of furniture.

There is some good news here in our region regarding the controlling of these pests: the use of heat Tennessee bed bug extermination purposes. To this end, all a Tennessee bed bug control service does is replace chemicals with heat to draw the insects out of their hiding places so that they can killed. ThermalRid, which can be finished in a single day, is one of the monikers of this heating to kill bed bugs services in our area,

Saves all your expensive furniture and possessions with Tennessee bed bug control or Tennessee bed bug extermination.

Any local reports on Bed Bugs here? – Pigeon Forge Forum …

I just got off the phone with an Environmental Health Department investigator. I called the Health Department for the area. I spoke with the gentleman who actually inspects the Wilderness At the Smokies. There has been one report of bed bugs a number of years ago in their Stone Hill lodge building. Upon inspection, no evidence was found. After speaking with the family who reported they were uncertain it was indeed a bed bug. The last inspection was May 2014.

I want to add that when a complaint comes in the actual room is inspected plus both rooms on either side. A few random rooms will also be checked. Other than that, two surprise inspections are done each year.

Now, he said the whole building (River Lodge) connected to the waterpark is considered "condos" or "condo hotels" and they have no jurisdiction in those types of buildings. He has had a number of calls, but since they do not inspect these buildings he cannot confirm or deny these reports.

I did ask if any hotel or resort is required to report any sightings or complaints and they are not, nor are they obligated to tell a person when they ask. The extermination company that does any treatments is also not obligated to tell anyone.

He did also say that most times bed bugs will be found in the bed, under the sheets, between the mattresses, etc. Go inside the room, check the seams of the mattress for black dots or markings. Especially check around the head board. Pull it away from the wall. They can often be spotted hanging out between the wall and boards. It is not often that a room will be so infested that you will see one crawling on the curtains or walking across the walls. Not that it doesn't happen, but a number of these sightings may in fact be other bugs.

Needless to say I still feel quite uncomfortable about our upcoming stay and need to decide what to do. Is anybody itching yet? I am.

The Fastest Way To Get Rid Of BedBugs Nashville Bed Bugs

If you own a hotel, nursing home, school, or daycare, then chances are your worst nightmare is having bed bugs. Similar to your pet and home having fleas, bed bugs require a professional treatment. Most bed bug treatments must be done several times in a row, they often require replacing furniture or mattresses, and sometimes the room has to be evacuated for days or months.

Bed Bug Heat Treatments

Forgo these traditional treatments, and opt for Nashville Bed Bugs Heat Treatment. This all-natural, non-toxic, and eco-friendly treatment is safe and effective. Instead of having to repeat the treatment several times, heat treatment will work fast and be a one-time job. Once the heat treatment has been done, the room will be operational within hours, and there is no need to replace mattresses or furniture.

Without the heat treatment, toxic chemicals have to be used in your home. This treatment avoids the use of any destructive or dangerous chemicals that could damage your furniture or home. Not to mention, chemicals can cause allergic reactions, cancer, or even birth defects or infertility. Chemical treatments for bed bugs arent always 100% effective either. The pesticides may kill most of the bed bugs, but they arent strong enough to kill the eggs, meaning once they hatch, there will be a new infestation. Heat treatment is 100% effective at killing beg bugs and their eggs.

The heat treatment raises the temperature of the affected area to a level that is proven to kill bed bugs. Nashville Bed Bugs use Convectex heaters. The affected area will be heated to 140-160 degrees for 6-8 hours, and then monitored to make sure no heat can escape the affected area. Most bed bugs are killed in 15 minutes in temperatures over 113 degrees. Eggs require an hour to be killed. Bugs hidden inside furniture, walls or flooring may take longer, but if held at 6-8 hours, the heat will be sure to get every bed bug in your home.

More About Nashville Bed Bugs

Nashville Bed Bugs has advanced heat temperature probes that are monitored from the computer and show when the right heat temperature has been reached. This allows for much faster treatment.

Nashville Bed Bugs will only treat the affected room, so you dont have to pay for the entire house to be treated.

Perhaps the best perk of allNashville Bed Bugs uses discrete, unmarked vehicles so that neighbors or hotel guests will be unaware of your bed bug problem.
